The process of tempering the glass
This process, done with heat treatment, balances the compression stresses of the outer layer with the stretching ones of the inner layer of the glass.
Heat treatment involves heating the glass to a temperature of over 600 degrees Celsius, followed by rapid, controlled cooling.
Tempered glass is up to 5 times more resistant to mechanical and thermal stress than an untreated glass of the same configuration and size.
Advantages of TGP technology
The tempered glass, subjected to stress beyond the strength limits, breaks into small fragments with blunt edges, reducing the risk of injury.
In the case of glazed facades, which either have to face high thermal stress, or present the danger of injuring people nearby in the event of the panels breaking, it is mandatory to temper the glass.
By using a high-performance tempering furnace, TGP tempered glass is made according to European norms for curtain walls, both structural and semi-structural.
